Expected Graduation Date on a Resume
How to write a graduation date that has not happened yet, why the phrasing matters for internship filtering, and what to do when the date is uncertain.

A graduation date that has not happened yet needs one extra word, and getting it wrong causes two different problems: ambiguity for the reader, and a failed filter for internships.
The format

Month and year, with a qualifier. That is the whole convention.
Never write a bare future date. “BSc Supply Chain Management, 2027” reads as a completed qualification to a reader skimming quickly, and when they notice the year they have to work out what you meant. Worse, if anyone reads it as complete and later discovers otherwise, it looks like an attempt rather than an oversight.
Pick one qualifier and hold it. Expected, anticipated, or in progress are all fine. Mixing them across entries looks careless.
Why it matters for internships
Internship and graduate programme eligibility frequently depends on your year of study or your graduation window, which makes this a hard filter applied before anyone reads your projects.
A programme for students graduating in 2027 will screen out a 2026 graduate mechanically, and a resume that leaves the date ambiguous gets treated as a risk rather than given the benefit of the doubt.

Adding your current standing
Useful, and it answers a second question a reader has.

The credit line does two things. It confirms you are on track, which an estimated date alone does not. And it gives a reader something concrete if your graduation date is genuinely uncertain.
For a part-time or non-standard programme this is more useful than a date, because progress is the real question.
When the date is uncertain
Common, and there are three honest options.
Give your best estimate with the qualifier. “Expected December 2027” is fine even if it might slip a term. Nobody treats an expected date as a contractual commitment.
State your standing instead, as above, if a date would be misleading.
Give a window, for part-time study where the end genuinely depends on load.

What does not work is omitting the date entirely. Its absence in an internship application reads as concealment of a mismatch, and a recruiter will not chase you to find out.
After you graduate
Change it the week you finish. Two things happen.
Remove the qualifier and leave the date:

If you did not finish
Do not carry an expected date indefinitely. If you left the programme, describe what you completed accurately.

That is honest, it accounts for the time, and it credits the work. An indefinitely pending expected date is the version that causes trouble at verification. See lying on a resume.
